SHEBOYGAN - The Lakeland men's basketball team endured its fifth consecutive loss on Tuesday night, suffering an 87-61 setback against Edgewood in a Northern Athletics Conference contest at Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The defeat was also the fourth consecutive at home for the Muskies (10-10, 4-8 NAC). Lakeland currently sits in a fourth-place tie in the North Division with Marian as it battles for one of eight spots in the conference tournament.

After a lay-up by junior forward Anthony Cobb brought Lakeland to within three, the Eagles outscored the Muskies 35-17 and scored on 15 of their 19 possessions in the remaining 8:23 of the first half to take a commanding 50-29 advantage into the locker room.

Edgewood, with the league's top record in conference play at 9-3 (11-9 overall), shot a blistering 53.1 percent in the first half and a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line. Lakeland was unable to contain the Eagles in the paint, surrendering 22 first-half points in the lane. Edgewood also nailed five 3-pointers in the opening frame and was able to get several easy looks in transition.

On the offensive end, the Muskies shot just 36.8 percent for the game and 53.8 percent from the charity stripe.

Cobb (Milwaukee) led Lakeland with 14 points and six rebounds for the game. Freshman forward Jake Schwarz (Sheboygan) was the only other Muskie to reach double figures with 12 points. Junior guard Khendal Andrews (Kankakee, Ill.) added seven points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Freshman Reggie Thomas (Waukegan, Ill.) made his Muskie debut, posting five rebounds in three minutes of action.

Lakeland hopes to get back on the right foot this Saturday at Dominican. Tip-off in River Forest, Ill., is set for approximately 4:15 p.m. following the Lakeland-Dominican women's game.
