Lakeland women's golf places fifth

The Lakeland College women's golf team placed fifth with a two-round total of 955 strokes at the six-team Concordia Cup tournament on Sept. 8-9 at Mee-kwon Park Golf Course in Mequon.
Aurora University won the tournament's team title with a total of 808.
Junior Nikki Commons led the way for the Muskies with a 187 (91-96), good for a third place overall finish. She finished 19 strokes behind Concordia Wisconsin's Muriel McIntyre, the tournament's individual champion.
Lakeland senior Sam Laird also notched a top-ten finish, placing ninth with a 210 (108-102).
Senior Kristin Schwake (T-21st) and sophomore Sarah Mallion (T-28th) rounded out scoring for the Muskies. Junior Sarina Wiesner withdrew from competition.
Lakeland will play again this Sunday at New Berlin Hills Golf Course in New Berlin for the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational.
