Commons places second at NAC Championship

Lakeland junior Nikki Commons took home a runner-up finish at the 2008 NAC Women's Golf Championship on Oct. 3-4 at Glen Erin G.C. in Janesville.
Commons, a Bonduel native, notched a two-round score of 177, moving up the leaderboard with an 86 in the second round. She fired a 91 on the first day of the tournament.
Concordia Wisconsin's Muriel McIntyre finished nine strokes ahead of Commons with a 168 (80-88) to take medalist honors while setting NAC Championship records for a one-day score and total score.
Aurora University captured its third consecutive team championship, finishing 72 strokes ahead of runner-up and tournament host Edgewood College.
Lakeland did not qualify for the team championship due to lack of players. Just one other Muskie, sophomore Sara Mallion, competed in the tournament. Mallion carded a 273 (139-134) to finish 26th.
