Athletics - posted on 8/29/2008
The Lakeland College women's golf team has been picked to finish seventh in the Northern Athletics Conference this season by the league's coaches in a preseason poll released by the conference Friday.
The Muskies did not qualify for a team score at the 2007 NAC Championship at Mequon Country Club in Mequon. However, junior Nikki Commons (Bonduel) shot a two-round total of 192 to place fourth at the tournament and earn a spot on the All-NAC team. The Spartans finished 52 strokes ahead of the runner-up, Concordia University (Wis.), which has been selected second by the coaches.
Lakeland opens its season on Sept. 7 as it will head to Mee-Kwon Park Golf Course in Mequon for a two-day event hosted by Concordia (Wis.).
