Fitchett nets NAC player of the week honor
Athletics - posted on 10/7/2008
Senior midfielder Kevin Fitchett was tabbed the Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week in men's soccer for the week of Sept. 29-Oct. 5, the league

announced late Monday.
Fitchett tallied three goals in a pair of NAC victories for Lakeland last week. The Green Bay native found the back of the net twice in a 6-1 home win over Maranatha Baptist last Tuesday, then once more in the Muskies' 4-2 triumph at Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday.
"This last week against Maranatha, he had a real nice goal and drew a penalty kick," Lakeland head coach David Madsen said. "Also, with Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday, the game had just been tied 1-1, and he came up with that go-ahead goal.
"In that sense, he's really been kind of the dynamic force in terms of changing the games and being able to put us back in the lead."
Fitchett now has nine goals on the season, which is tied for first on the team, and has been instrumental in helping the Muskies to a four-match winning streak and a 4-1 start in conference play.
"This week, and for most of the season, Kevin's been having a great year," Madsen said. "He provides our team with a lot of extra push when we need it. He's really been working hard and pushing the other guys to play better too."
Each week, the league's head coaches nominate a player from their own team to be voted on for each sport by NAC sports information directors.
