Linger nabs NAC player of the week honors
Athletics - posted on 10/28/2008
Junior middle hitter Kim Linger has received the Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week award in women's volleyball for the week of Oct. 20-26, the league announced late Monday.
In a 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-13) Lakeland victory over MSOE

last Friday night, Linger entered the school record books. Her 16 kills in 21 attacks with no errors calculated to a .762 hitting percentage, the second-highest in a match in Lakeland history when the hitter posted at least 15 attacks.
"Kim came out Friday and corrected probably her worst match of the year on Tuesday with a record-setting night,"
Lakeland head coach Chad Schreiber said. "She's an incredible player when she puts in that kind of effort."
The Eldorado native and Laconia High School graduate registered 33 kills with a .418 hitting percentage in a trio of Lakeland victories last week. Her play helped the Muskies wrap up a perfect 12-0 season in NAC action, pushing the team's overall record to 20-8.

As one of the Muskies' featured offensive players, she will be a vital part of the team as it makes its push for an NCAA Tournament berth.
"As a player, Kim has grown each year," Schreiber said. "We've asked her to handle more of the offensive load and she's responded to that and kept herself healthy. She's going to be a big part of what we do going forward from here."
Each week, the league's head coaches nominate a player from their own team to be voted on for each sport by NAC sports information directors.
