Lakeland finishes 4-2 at Midwest 10 tournament

The No. 12 Lakeland men's volleyball team posted a 4-2 mark Saturday at the Midwest 10 tournament at UW-Oshkosh.
The Muskies (6-2) won their first three matches before dropping back-to-back contests. Lakeland closed the day with a 25-15, 25-19 victory over Iowa State.
Lakeland began the tournament with a 25-17, 25-21 upset victory over No. 9 UW-Milwaukee.
After knocking off No. 30 Northern Illinois 25-16, 25-19, the Muskies dropped a set against Notre Dame, but quickly rebounded for a 22-25, 25-12, 15-8 triumph over the Fighting Irish.
"We were defeated handily in the first set," Lakeland coach Chad Schreiber said, "but for the last two sets, we played our best volleyball of the year so far and picked up a nice win."
Lakeland then squared off against Wisconsin Volleyball Conference rival UW-Oshkosh, the nation's second-ranked team. The Muskies suffered their first loss of the day, 25-22, 25-14.
The Titans ran away with the match in the second set after a closely contested first set.
"We served poorly in the first set, and that was the difference," Schreiber said. "It started off close in the second, but they ran away with it after going on a run. UW-Oshkosh is a very good team, a legitimate No. 2 team in the country."
Lakeland was then taken down by No. 29 Illinois State 25-19, 25-19 prior to its victory over Iowa State.
The Muskies return to action this Thursday at home against No. 18 Marquette. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
