SHEBOYGAN - The Lakeland men's basketball team was unable to establish offensive or defensive rhythm in a 77-57 non-conference loss to Finlandia (Mich.) on Tuesday night at Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies (1-3) shot just 32.8 percent for the game and allowed Finlandia to shoot 50 percent from the floor and 6-of-12 from 3-point range.

After trailing by 18 at one point in the first half, Lakeland closed to within five after a lay-up by junior Trevor McKown at the 16:55 mark in the second. However, the Lions (2-2) immediately regained the momentum, pushing the lead back to double digits with back-to-back 3-pointers.

In the first half, the Muskies turned the ball over 14 times as Finlandia jumped the passing lanes and created easy scoring chances. Lakeland was held scoreless for a six-minute stretch in the first half and shot just 29.6 percent from the field in the period.

Senior guard Khendal Andrews (Kankakee, Ill.) led the Lakeland offensive attack with 15 points, including four 3-pointers. Sophomore forward Jake Schwarz posted nine points and a team-high eight rebounds, but was held to 2-of-11 shooting from the field.

The Muskies begin Northern Athletics Conference competition next Tuesday, Dec. 1, at home against Maranatha Baptist. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
