Four Lakeland wrestlers placed at the Knox Invite on Saturday, Nov. 14, in Galesburg, Ill.

"It was a good day all around," Lakeland coach Pete Rogers said. "Our guys won a lot of matches. Even though we're not where we want to be right now, things are finally heading in the right direction."

Senior Adam Sutter (Gladstone, Mich.) made his season debut and placed first in the heavyweight division. The 2008-09 All-American won by forfeit in the final match.

"Adam was disappointed he didn't get to actually wrestle in the finals, but at least he won the tournament," Rogers said. "He had two first period pins and manhandled people today."

Freshman Ryan Renon (De Pere, Wis.) continued his fantastic start to the season by placing second at 157 pounds. Renon lost in the finals by UW-Platteville's Jesse Milks, a two-time All-American and three-time conference champion.

Senior Jake Frias (Oak Lawn, Ill.) also finished as a runner-up. The 165-pound captain was knocked off in the finals by Vinny Alber of UW-Platteville.

Sophomore Rob Frias (Oak Lawn, Ill.) made his season debut at 133 pounds and placed fourth.

"Robby beat a national qualifier from Luther, so that was kind of exciting," Rogers said. "He wrestled a ton of matches and was pretty worn down at the end, but I know I can expect a lot from him for the rest of the season."

The Muskies resume action at the MSOE Invite on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 9:30 a.m.
