Muskies finish 13th at Pete Willson Invitational

Four Lakeland wrestlers finished in the top eight of their respective weight classes as the Pete Willson Invitational hosted by Wheaton College concluded Saturday afternoon.

Senior Adam Sutter (285) rebounded after a 4-3 loss in his first match today against Loyde Braidlow of Truman State as he won his final four matches to take home a third place finish. He picked up victories over Alec Barker (John Carroll), James Zarate (UW-Whitewater), Lynn Panko (Indianapolis) on his way to a 2-1 victory over Braidlow in the third-place match.

Jake Frias (165) finished the day with a 3-2 record after losing his opener against Matt Gille (UW-Parkside) 6-2. He won matches over Justin Bodi (North Central), Tim Pope (Mount St. Joseph) and Billy Painter in the sixth-place match.

Ryan Renon (174) and Ben Chapman (157) both picked up eighth-place finishes for Lakeland.

The Muskies finished the tournament with 51 points. UW-Parkside took top honors with 175.5 points, 67 more than second place Heidelberg.

Lakeland returns to action on Friday, Feb. 5 against MSOE in Milwaukee.
