Athletics - posted on 8/18/2009

The Lakeland College women's tennis team has been picked to finish 11th in the Northern Athletics Conference this season by the league's coaches in a preseason poll released by the conference late Monday.

Edgewood, the defending NAC regular season and tournament champion, tallied 10 of the 12 first-place votes for a total of 142 points.

Concordia, Wis., which had won the previous two league championships, has been tabbed second with 124 points.

Last season, the Muskies, hampered by a lack of numbers, finished 11th in the league with a 0-10 record.

Lakeland opens the 2009 season at Aurora and Benedictine on Sept. 5.
