Late comeback keeps Lakeland undefeated in Arizona

A pair of runs in the sixth inning against Mayville State pushed the Lakeland College softball team to a 5-4 victory followed by a dominant 7-2 win Monday afternoon at the Tucson Invitational Games in Tucson, Ariz.
Trailing 4-3 against Mayville in the sixth inning, Jenny LaLuzerne singled in Erin Henk to tie the contest at 4-4. LaLuzerne scored to put the Muskies ahead as the Muskies' picked up their third straight hit with a double from Sam Shepeck. Sara Roberts earned the win after entering in the third inning as she shut down Mayville in the seventh inning. Henk and Shepeck each led Lakeland with two hits in 3 at-bats.
Leading 2-0 against Augsburg, the Muskies tallied four runs in the fifth en route to a 7-2 victory. KC Blahnik, Jessie Eichner, Chelsea Coenen and Roberts all crossed the plate for Lakeland to take a six run lead. After a pinch hit RBI by Leah Sheahan in the sixth inning, Augsburg tacked on two in the seventh before Roberts wrapped up her third win of the season with the complete game victory.
Through four games, Lakeland has compiled 14 doubles, five triples and a home run on offense while hitting .371 as a team. Henk leads the squad with a .643 average at the plate with nine hits while Blahnik has scored nine times this season.
The Muskies return on Wednesday after a day off with games against Augsburg and St. Scholastica at the Tucson Invivational Games.
