The Lakeland College softball team concluded its 2010 home schedule with a pair of five inning victories Friday afternoon, defeating Maranatha 11-0 and 15-0 in Northern Athletics Conference action.

Seniors Corine Demske and Chelsea Coenen each homered on the day as 11 different players tallied hits in the sweep.

Coenen led Lakeland (22-16, 15-7 NAC) with five RBI on the afternoon, all of them coming in game two on a 3-4 performance with three runs scored. Roberts and Cassie Felton helped drive the offensive production with four runs driven in apiece.

Roberts and Felton each threw five innings of shutout softball, allowing two hits in each game while walking none.

Between games, the Muskies honored seniors Blahnik, Coenen, Demske, Felton and Roberts in a ceremony on the field. The group has won more than 98 games in their college career, combining for more than 500 hits, 400 runs, 80 doubles, 65 triples, 40 home runs and 320 RBI.

"The past four years have been filled with great memories and funny stories, and the team is where it is now because of the pride our seniors take in the program," Lakeland coach Chad Buchmann said. "Beyond breaking numerous team records, they have excelled in the classroom and have been great role models for our younger players."

Lakeland concludes its 2010 regular season tomorrow, traveling to Milwaukee for a noon doubleheader at MSOE before play begins in the 2010 NAC softball tournament next weekend.
