Freshman Justin Laack was named the Northern Athletics Conference football special teams student athlete of the week for the week ending September 20, the conference announced Monday night.
Laack took his first kickoff return of the season 86 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 7-7 after Carthage scored on the opening possession of the game.
"He hit the hole and accelerated to the end zone and it couldn't have come at a better time," Lakeland head coach Kevin Doherty said. "He has a lot of talent and gave us a big boost when we needed it."
Laack averaged 34.6 yards per return on the night with five returns for a total of 173 yards in the 50-34 loss. He is the third Muskie to be awarded weekly honors this year along with Jacob Heinemeyer (offense) and Nic Horstmeier (special teams)
