Lakeland senior Brittanie Paulus has been selected to her second straight American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III All-Midwest Region team, the AVCA announced Thursday.

A Belgium, Wis., native, Paulus received her third all-region mention, earning honorable mention as a sophomore in 2007.

This season, the outside hitter led the Muskies to their third consecutive Northern Athletics Conference regular season and tournament titles and their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance. She recorded team highs with 418 kills and 550 digs.

"It feels great to get this award as a senior, even though the loss to end our season still hurts," Paulus said. "I feel blessed to have such great teammates ... they deserve more recognition and many of the honors that I'm lucky enough to get."

Paulus set school records for career digs (1,882) and digs in one season (550), and leaves the program second all-time in kills (1,357). She received all-conference accolades in each of her four years, and was a three-time first-team honoree and Player of the Year award winner in 2007.

"I wish each of our players had the competitiveness of a Brittanie Paulus," Lakeland coach Chad Schreiber said. "We ask her to do a lot in every aspect of the game, so I'm glad she isn't judged by others solely on her numbers. She will certainly go down as one of the best players in our program's history."

In addition to her on-court resume, Paulus was also recently named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 5 women's volleyball third team.
