Blahnik awarded NAC weekly honor

Senior forward KC Blahnik has been named the Northern Athletics Conference women's basketball Student Athlete of the Week.

Blahnik (Gladstone, Mich.) averaged 24 points and 8.5 rebounds to lead the Muskies (5-0, 1-0 NAC) in wins over Finlandia and Rockford. She scored 18 points in Lakeland's 77-57 victory over Finlandia and carried Lakeland with 30 points, tying her season-high, and shot 14-of-18 from the free throw line as the Muskies pulled out a 79-72 overtime victory in their NAC opener against Rockford.

Blahnik has been selected to the NAC all-conference second-team for two consecutive seasons. She is currently tied for second in the conference with 17.8 points per game and places seventh with a 55.4 field goal percentage through five games.

Lakeland travels to Maranatha on Thursday, Dec. 3 for a 7 p.m. match up before returning home on Saturday, Dec. 5 for the front end of a men's/women's doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
