Women's soccer dominates Mount Mary, grabs first fall sports victory

The Lakeland women's soccer team won its first game this season, a 9-0 shutout over the Blue Angels of Mount Mary College on Thursday, Sept. 9.

From the beginning of the game, Lakeland dominated the soccer field and held the Blue Angels scoreless.

Junior forward Ashley Meyer (Hinckley, Ill.) scored three goals and had an assist for the Muskies. She also earned the team's first hat trick of the season.

Juniors Kristina Borts (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Dana Schmidt (Menasha, Wis.)  both scored twice for Lakeland. Borts also had an assist.

Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Sarbacker (Middleton, Wis.) earned her first shutout of the season.

Lakeland returns to action Saturday, Sept. 11, against Northern Athletics Conference foe Benedictine. Start time is 1 p.m.
