The Lakeland women's soccer team suffered a tough, 6-1 loss to Edgewood College in Northern Athletics Conference action Tuesday night in Madison, Wis.
The Muskies(3-10, 2-4) allowed three early goals that set them back for the remainder of the game as Edgewood scored all three first half goals in the first 16 minutes of play.
Lakeland put themselves back in the game when junior midfielder Kristina Borts (Milwaukee, Wis.) scored off a penalty kick in the 44th minute to make it a 3-1 game at half.
"We played pretty well in the first half," said head coach Tony Pierce. "In the second half, we didn't make good decisions and we didn't play smart."
The Muskies let in three second half goals as Edgewood's Molly Haertle capped a hat trick and an assist to lead the Eagles.
"We'll regroup tomorrow and talk about what we need to do for Saturday's game," said Pierce.
Lakeland returns to NAC action on Saturday, Oct. 9 on the road against Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee, Wis. Game time is 1 p.m.
