Men's soccer loses in season opener
Athletics - posted on 9/4/2010
The Lakeland men's soccer team lost its season opener 2-0 to Martin Luther in New Ulm, Minn., Saturday afternoon.
The Muskies gave up two first half goals that set them back for the remainder of the game. The first goal came in the first 15 minutes on a disputed penalty kick. The second goal followed with a through ball that the Muskie defense couldn't get behind.
Head coach Tony Pierce thought the team played well despite being shut-out and looks forward to tomorrow's game.
"Everybody played well and we were able to get every guy into the game. We created a lot of scoring chances but we just couldn't finish. It will take us some time to find a rhythm, but I am pleased with the way we played," said Pierce
Lakeland continues play tomorrow against St. Mary's University at 7 p.m. in Minnesota.
