Koepsell, Hardy score big goals in Muskie win over Edgewood

MADISON, Wis.--The Lakeland College men's soccer team beat Edgewood College, 2-1 in overtime in Northern Athletics Conference play Tuesday night.

The Muskies gave up an early goal when Edgewood's Paul Domann scored in the fifth minute of the game to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead. Edgewood was able to hold off Lakeland in the first half.

With just minutes left in the game, junior forward Jeremy Hardy (Cooks, Mich.) scored the game tying goal in the 88th minute to force the game into overtime.

Junior forward Ben Koepsell (Cedar Grove, Wis.) scored the game winning goal in the 98th minute to give Lakeland the victory and keep the Muskies in competition for a NAC Tournament spot.

Head coach Tony Pierce was pleased with the team overall efforts.

"We gave up an early goal, but we kept plugging away," said Pierce. "The guys played very well and made a tremendous come back in a key game for us. We did a good job staying composed."

Lakeland returns to NAC action on Wednesday, Oct. 20 in the last home game of the season against Marian University. Game time is 3:30 p.m. at Muskie Field.
