Muskies lose in heartbreaker to Marian

SHEBOYGAN, Wis.-- The Lakeland College men's soccer team lost 1-0 to Marian University in Northern Athletics Conference play Wednesday afternoon at Muskie field.
The Muskies and Sabres battled for a scoreless first half, both missing key opportunities to score. Marian was able to capitalize in the 66th minute when Milan Stupar scored on an assist from David Reinke.
Lakeland and Marian tirelessly battled, but the Muskies couldn't come up with a positive result. Marian and Lakeland are now tied for fifth place in the NAC.
"The guys played hard," said head coach Tony Pierce. "We had plenty of chances to score and make it a different game, but we didn't finish on our opportunities."
Lakeland will keep battling for a spot in the NAC Tournament as they travel to Aurora, Ill., to face second-placed Aurora University on Sunday, Oct. 24. Game time is noon.
