Resilient Cougars hand Lakeland fifth straight loss

The Lakeland College women's basketball team led throughout the game, but couldn't finish as they fell to Concordia University Chicago, 57-53 Tuesday night.
Lakeland (4-6, 2-4 NAC) led by as many as seven points in the first half and took a 30-26 halftime lead
The Muskies led by as many as 10 points with five minutes left in the game, but Concordia Chicago (4-5, 1-3 NAC) finished the game on a 14-0 run. Lakeland committed five turnovers and a lack of execution on the offensive end led to the Muskies fifth straight loss.
Concordia Chicago shot 39.6 percent for the game and they held a 46-30 rebound advantage. The Muskies shot 32.7 percent.
Junior Erin Cepa led the Muskies with 12 points and senior Chelsea Coenen added 10. Sophomore Dana Henrichs led the team with eight rebounds.
Lakeland returns to action Monday, January 3, as they travel to Hancock, Michigan to play Finlandia University. Tip-off is 4:30 p.m.
