SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Junior guard Jack Ridgway scored a team-high 22 points in a 95-81 victory over Silver Lake College in the Moose and Dona Woltzen Gymnasium Monday night.
The Muskies held on to a four point lead at halftime to secure the victory. Lakeland shot 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three point range, while holding the Lakers to 47 percent from the field, but allowed the Lakers to post an impressive 50 percent from behind the 3-point arc.
Lakeland controlled the bulk of the game, forcing 20 Laker turnovers, while recording a 2.1 assist to turnover ratio of their own.
Junior forward Germell Heard (Milwaukee, Wis.) and freshman guard Tim Rotruck (Milwaukee, Wis.) scored 17 points apiece. Heard added three assists and was a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line. Rotruck collected a team-high seven rebounds and made his presence known on the court.
Junior point guard Josh Regal (Suring, Wis.) put up 13 points and added a team-high seven assists.
Despite the win and high shooting percentages, head coach Aaron Aanonsen was disappointed with the team's defensive efforts.
"Our execution on the defensive end was below average," said Aanonsen. "We pride ourselves on the defensive end and tonight we weren't making stops and rebounding the basketball with any consistency. Games are not to be won and lost on the offensive end. They are won on the defensive end."
Silver Lake's Dwight Weathers scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Lakers.
Lakeland returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 18, in a home game against Lake Forest. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Woltzen Gym.
