Lakeland junior Tony Faller (Oostburg, Wis.) was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his big game in Lakeland's loss to Carthage College on Sept. 11.
Faller, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound safety, had a game-high 11 tackles including two tackles for loss, and he broke up four passes. Faller is currently the Northern Athletics Conference leading tackler with 27 total tackles, averaging 13.5 per game. He also leads the NAC in tackles for loss with 6.5 tackles.
The coaches understand Faller's importance to the defense. "Tony is a leader on the defensive side of the ball," said Lakeland defensive coordinator Colin Bruton. "Tony is always around the ball. He's good at playing the run and an excellent pass defender. Tony has a lot of energy and he's giving his maximum effort every play."
