Lakeland College Women's Soccer Defeats Alverno 9-2

The Lakeland College Women's soccer team defeated the Alverno Inferno 9-2 today to secure the #2 seed in the Lake Michigan Conference Tournament. The Muskies will now host Maranatha Baptist on Friday at 3 pm.
Senior forward Amanda Smith tallied 3 goals and 1 assist on the day while running mate Ann Lehecka added 2 goals. Freshman midfielder Marie Reynolds provided some inspired play while contributing 2 goals and 2 assists.
Junior midfielder Susan Webb scored her first goal of the season on an 18 yard rocket. Webb, along with sophomore midfield Nellie Weiss and freshman Laura Engel each had an assist. Sophomore defender Allyce Maus scored her second goal of the season.
The win puts the Muskies at 11-7 overall and 6-1 in Lake Michigan Conference play with the lone loss at the hands of #1 seed Concordia University. The Muskies are hoping to return to the finals for the third consecutive year and avenge this loss.
