Lakeland duo receive All-NAC accolades
Athletics - posted on 11/9/2010
Two members of the Lakeland College volleyball program were recognized as the Northern Athletics Conference announced its 2010 All-NAC Women's volleyball teams on Tuesday, Nov. 9.
Junior Allison Davis (Sheboygan, Wis.) was named second team, while senior setter Kristine Raeder (Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) earned honorable mention accolades.
Davis, a middle hitter, stepped up and became the unquestioned leader on this young Muskie squad. Davis was the team's top offensive threat with 271 kills and 43 aces, both team highs. She was also the team's top blocker with 87.
Raeder was named honorable mention for the second straight year. As the team's senior setter, Raeder led Lakeland with 730 assists and was second with 315 digs. Raeder finishes her career fourth on the career assists list with 2,525.
"Kristine came to Lakeland with a very successful volleyball background and immediately had an impact on the success of the team as both a defensive specialist and setter," Lakeland head coach Chad Schrieber said. "Her competitiveness helped her make contributions in multiple areas of the game."
Schreiber was glad his players received their awards, however, he felt they deserved better.
"Both of their efforts and performances were deserving of greater honors than they received," said Schrieber. "Unfortunately, the way the NAC system works, your team has to finish higher in order for that to happen."
