Ten Muskies receive All-NAC accolades

Athletics - posted on 11/23/2010

The Lakeland College football team placed 10 players on the All-Conference team as the Northern Athletics Conference released its 2010 football awards.

Senior wide receiver Roberto Flores (Milwaukee, Wis.) was joined by senior cornerback Isiah Calhoun (Pontiac, Wis.) and sophomore linebacker Bruce Romagnoli (Iron Mountain, Mich.) as first-team selections.

Flores finished his career at Lakeland with a 27-game reception streak and leaves as one of the best receivers in school history. Flores finished the season with 863 yards, eight touchdowns and a career-high 59 catches. Flores leaves as just the sixth receiver in school history to amass more than 2,000 yards receiving, finishing with 2,044.

Romagnoli had a stellar sophomore season and finished as the team's second-leading tackler (72), despite only playing eight games. Romagnoli also tallied nine tackles for a loss, one sack, one pass break-up and one quarterback hurry.

Calhoun had an outstanding senior season, amassing 21 tackles, seven pass break-ups and team high-six interceptions for 57 yards. His interceptions were second in the conference and the fifth best total in a season by a Muskie.

Lakeland placed three players on the second team: defensive end Jason Bruggink (Plymouth, Wis.) and cornerbacks Tony Faller (Oostburg, Wis.) and Keith Woodson (Evanston, Ill.)

Earning honorable mentions were linebacker Will Baldwin (Waukegan, Ill.), kick/punt returner Justin Laack (Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) and punter Nic Horstmeier (Random Lake, Wis.)
