The Lakeland College men's volleyball team beat UW-Platteville (25-16, 26-24, 27-25) in straight sets on Sunday to close out the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Playdate.

Lakeland (4-1, 4-1 WVC) finished the weekend 3-1, their lone loss coming on Saturday to UW-La Crosse.

Against Platteville, sophomore outside hitter Dane Maier (Middleton, Wis.) led the Muskies with 13 kills, while junior Jared Sparrey (Oak Forest, Ill.) added nine kills and seven blocks. Freshman Brett Kaczmarek (Kenosha, Wis.) led the team with 22 assists and had six digs.

"Brett did a nice job setting for his first time at the collegiate level," said Lakeland head coach Chad Schreiber. "Again we tried some new line-up combinations that at this time don't have the chemistry needed to win. Some of our young guys are getting caught watching the paint dry."

Lakeland returns to the court Saturday, Feb. 5, as they travel to Milwaukee, Wis. to compete in the Midwest Volleyball Association Play day at Marquette University. They open their playday at 9:30 a.m. against Northern Illinois.
