Muskies score runs, unable to hold on

The Lakeland College softball team enjoyed a 2-1 lead in the first inning, but Midland University (Nebraska) hit a home run in the sixth inning to take a two run lead that was good enough for a 6-4 victory.

Freshman Sam Janc (Worth, Ill.) hit an RBI while going 1-for-3 from the plate. Sophomore Heather Haeflinger (Shawano, Wis.) recored a double and also went 1-for-3.

Lakeland (0-2) resumes action at the Tucson Invitational on Monday, March, 14 at 8 and 10 p.m. as they play Denison University and the College of Staten Island, respectively.
