Errors cost Muskies in loss to Royals

The Lakeland College baseball team ended its spring training at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. on a sour note, losing to Bethel University, 7-3.
The Muskies (5-3) had a successful trip, but couldn't get that final victory. The Royals scored seven runs on nine hits with one error, while the Muskies scored three runs on seven hits and had four errors.
Bethel got on the board early, but a lack of offense and poor fielding costs the Muskies, as three runs in the Bethel third inning, were unearned, leading to an early 6-0 Bethel lead. Lakeland would get one back in the bottom of the third, when freshman Charlie Sparrow scored on a passed ball.
Freshman Tyler Pfefferle (Seymour,Wis.) came in as a substitute in the sixth inning and delivered, hitting a double to left field, eventually scoring on a Jess Nickel (Waupun, Wis.) RBI single. Pfefferle contributed to the Muskies third run as well, scoring senior Mike Ruzek (Manitowoc, Wis.) on an RBI groundout.
Garret Vincetich-Morris (Janesville, Wis.; 1-1) had a tough outing, going just three innings, allowing five hits, six runs, three earned, while walking three and striking out four. Andy Chitwood (Muscoda, Wis.) pitched well in relief, going three scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out one.
At the plate Lakeland was led by Ruzek who went 2-3 with a run scored, while Pfefferle chipped in going 1-2 with one RBI and one run scored.
