SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Lakeland College junior Josh Regal became the 36th player in Lakeland men's basketball history to score 1,000 points in a career. Regal, a 5-foot-10 guard from Suring, Wis., accomplished the feat in Lakeland's 79-75 setback to Concordia, Wis., on Feb. 9.
Regal entered the game with 993 points in 72 games.
Regal reached the milestone on a layup with 8 minutes, 33 seconds left in the game. He ended the night with a double-double, scoring 12 points and adding 12 assists. At the completion of the game, Regal had 1,005 points.
"This is a great honor for Josh and his family," said Lakeland head coach Aaron Aanonsen. "He's done a great job as our starting point guard for the last three years. He's helped us rebuild and continue the tradition of Lakeland basketball. He's going to go down not only as one of the all-time greatest scorers, but he'll also be in the top 10 in assists and steals. It's a testament to Josh and the overall player he has become here."
