The Lakeland College softball team dropped its sixth straight game as they struggled to score runs against St. Norbert College in a nonconference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Muskie Field.
The Green Knights took Lakeland in five innings in both games, winning the first, 14-3 and the second 11-1.
The Muskies (4-16, 4-4) struggled defensively in game one as they gave up five runs, including a grand slam in the first inning. Lakeland's bats went busy for a late rally in the fourth and fifth innings, but came up short.
Freshman Sammy Rieder (St. Cloud, Wis.) went 2-for-3 from the plate with a double and a run scored. Freshman Brittni Peterson (Elmwood, Wis.) scored one run on one hit, while sophomore Heather Haeflinger (Shawano, Wis.) posted an RBI.
Head coach Chad Buchmann was impressed with Peterson's play, but disappointed with the nonconference game overall.
"We wanted to use this game to work out some kinks," said Buchmann. "Some girls took advantage of the opportunity and some didn't. Brittni Peterson played well today, but as a team we need to find a consistency at the plate."
The Muskies bats went quiet in game two, only generating three hits and scoring one run. Peterson went 1-for-2 with a run scored to lead Lakeland.
The Green Knights got out to an early 3-0 lead in the second inning and used a seven-run fourth inning to secure the win. St. Norbert scored 11 runs on just eight hits.
On the pitching mound, Myszka recorded two strike outs in three innings pitched.
The Muskies return to Northern Athletics Conference action on Saturday, April 16, as they host Dominican University on Family Day. First pitch is slated for noon.
