Sophomore Farouk Dadzie tallied two goals and the Lakeland College men's soccer team came up big in a 3-1 victory over Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Northern Athletics Conference action Tuesday afternoon in Watertown, Wis.
The Muskies sharpened their NAC Tournament resume as they improved to 3-2-2, 5-5-3 overall. Dadzie (Milwaukee) scored his first collegiate goal on an assist from senior forward Ben Koepsell (Cedar Grove) in the 36th minute to give Lakeland a 1-0 edge at halftime.
The Crusaders battled back into the game in the 50th minute as Kevin Vigneault capped a goal to tie the game at one. Freshman forward Paul Elzinga (Howards Grove) answered just two minutes later as he capped his second goal of the season to give Lakeland the lead again.
Dadzie registered his second collegiate goal on an assist from Hardy in the 85th minute for a convincing road victory.
"We were able to keep possession most of the first half and put ourselves ahead," said head coach Tony Pierce. "The second half we gave up a goal, but were able to bounce back. Our defense played well today. Bobby (Rublee) did a great job of organizing the defense and clearing the back."
Lakeland returns to NAC action on Oct. 15 as they host Aurora University in the college's homecoming game. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
