Four different players scored for the Lakeland College men's soccer team in a 4-0 win over Marian University in Northern Athletics Conference action Tuesday night in Fond du Lac, Wis.
With the win, The Muskies (8-7-3, 5-4-2 NAC) have the chance to advance to the NAC Tournament on Oct. 29. Lakeland is tied with Benedictine University for the sixth spot and the tie-breaker is yet to be determined.
Senior Jeremy Hardy (Cooks, Mich.) struck first for the Muskies at the 21:52 mark on an assist from freshman Paul Elzinga (Howards Grove) to take a 1-0 lead.
In the 27thminute of play, senior Danny Spatchek (Chilton) scored off a corner kick from senior Craig Dekarske (Sheboygan). Lakeland took a 3-0 advantage at half time when sophomore Farouk Dadzie (Milwaukee) netted a goal in the 40thminute.
Senior Bobby Rublee (Sheboygan) converted on a penalty kick in the mid-second half to secure the Muskies 4-0 win.
"We played really well tonight," said head coach Tony Pierce. "We played great soccer and if we don't get another chance to play this week, the team finished the season playing their best soccer. Our seniors stepped up and did a good job of taking care of business. It's going to be tough to see them go."
Lakeland outshot the Sabres 24-6 and junior goalkeeper Alex Piekarski (Menasha) recorded two saves to increase his season tally to 101.
If the Muskies earn the sixth spot in the NAC Tournament they return to action on Oct. 29 against the No. 3 seeded Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee, Wis.
