The Lakeland College women's soccer team suffered a 5-1 loss to Concordia University Wisconsin in the team's Northern Athletics Conference home opener Tuesday afternoon at Muskie Field.
Lakeland jumped on a dormant Concordia Wisconsin as senior forward Lindsay Rogers (Sheboygan) got the Muskies (3-5, 2-1) on the board first in the fourth minute of play. Senior midfielder Dana Schmidt (Menasha) volleyed the ball to Rogers off of Concordia Wisconsin's goal kick. Rogers was able to beat a couple of Falcon defenders and placed the ball in the near post to make it a 1-0 game.
The Muskies' lead didn't last long as the Falcons capitalized on a defensive mistake in the eighth minute of action. Concordia Wisconsin struck again at the 26:52 and 7:33 mark to go up 3-1 at half.
The Falcons capped two more goals in the second half for a convincing NAC victory and outshot Lakeland 30-8.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Sarbacker (Middleton) recorded 13 saves for the game.
