The Lakeland College women's volleyball team won their home opener, defeating Alverno College in three sets on Wednesday night.
The Muskies (3-11, 1-1 NAC) got their first Northern Athletics Conference win and will look to gain some momentum from their 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-20) victory.
The Muskies were led by sophomore setter Brittany Reindel (Kenosha, Wis.) who had 27 assists, four kills and four digs. Sophomore middle hitter Amanda Dillman (Sheboygan, Wis.) led the team with nine kills, while sophomore libero Tess Myklebust (Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) led the team with 10 digs.
"It was nice to get a win," said head coach Jon Staabs. "We had some moments where we just weren't focused, but we were able to pull through. It's a good start for us and hopefully we can play with a little more consistency this weekend."
Lakeland returns to action on Friday, Sept. 23, as they travel to Ripon, Wis. for the Red Hawk Invitational. Their first match is at 4 p.m. against St. Mary's College.
