The Lakeland College women's volleyball team started off their week on the right foot with a win over Northern Athletics Conference foe Marian University.
The Muskies (7-18, 4-6 NAC) defeated the Sabre's in four sets, 3-1 (25-14, 24-26, 25-22, 25-20), moving them into the eighth seed in the NAC.
"It was a big win for us," said Lakeland head coach Jon Staabs. "We control our ow
n destiny from here on out. I'm proud of the girls, they continue to improve and have put themselves in this position. We had a few mental breakdowns, but the talent is there. We just need to remain mentally tough and finish the season strong."
Sophomore setter Brittany Reindel (Kenosha, Wis.) led the Muskies in all phases of the game, recording five kills on eight attempts (.625) while recording game-highs in assists (47), service aces (3), and digs (16). "Brittany was outstanding tonight," said Staabs. "She hustled all match long and was solid in all areas of the game."
Senior middle hitter Allison Davis (Sheboygan, Wis.) led the team with 18 kills and hit .517 and sophomore Amanda Dillman (Sheboygan, Wis.) added 16 kills.
The Muskies will continue their pursuit of a NAC playoff berth as they travel to Milwaukee, Wis. to face MSOE on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.
