The Lakeland College softball team couldn't get into a rhythm and suffered two losses, including a 5-1 setback in game one and a 9-1 defeat in game two, to Aurora University in Northern Athletics Conference play Saturday afternoon.
The Muskies, who qualified for the NAC Tournament on April 26 with a sweep over Wisconsin Lutheran College, drop to 19-15 overall, 14-8 in the NAC.
Lakeland struggled at the plate in both games and only generated two runs on 14 hits. Junior Jenny LaLuzerne led the team in the series, going 4-for-6 with an RBI, while freshman Kaitlyn Hoffmann scored both runs for the Muskies.
Aurora took an early advantage in both games and proved why they're one of the top teams in the NAC as they generated 25 hits and 14 RBIs.
"We got down early and couldn't find the right mix offensively," said head coach Chad Buchmann. "Hopefully, we can make some noise tomorrow against Benedictine."
Junior Heather Haeflinger, the NAC's triples leader, doubled in game one and made a couple a key defensive plays.
The Muskies return to NAC action tomorrow as they host Benedictine University in the team's last home game of the season. First pitch is slated for Noon.
