Men Drop Tough Game to Aurora

The Lakeland Muskies men's soccer program dropped their game against Aurora University Spartans on Saturday afternoon 2-1. In the 76th minute freshman forward Chase Corricelli shot a ball past Lakeland 's senior goaltender Joe Silverberg from about 8 yards out to give the Spartans the victory.

 

The Muskies came out strong in the first half when freshman Kevin Fitchett scored a goal at 16:45 when he put a rebound into the back of the net from about six-yards out.

 

In the 60th minute sophomore forward Tyler Klotz scored for the Spartans to knot the game up at 1-1. Lakeland had a chance of their own in the second half when they put the ball in the back of the net, but the player was ruled off-sides.

 

Joe Silverberg made 11 saves for the Muskies, while freshman Jon Unruh had five on the game for the Spartans. Freshman Ted Cormier led the Muskies with two shots on goal.

 

The Muskies will have a week to rest before they open the conference season at home against Maranatha Baptist on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 3:30p.m.
