The Lakeland College women's volleyball team won its first match of the season in their final match at the Pizza Hut Classic in Oshkosh, Wis.
It took eight matches, but Lakeland (1-7) head coach Jon Staabs got his first victory with a 3-1 (25-10, 21-25, 25-10, 25-15) win over Northern Athletics Conference foe Concordia University Wisconsin.
Junior Taylor Daus (Green Bay, Wis.) led the Muskies with 15 digs while sophomore Brittany Reindl added 35 assists.
"We served really well in the match," said Staabs. "We played together and played really well except for the second game. It's nice to get a win. It gives us some confidence heading into Tuesday."
In their first match of the day, the Muskies were overmatched by No. 24 University of Chicago, falling in three sets, 3-0 (15-25, 17-25, 23-25).
"We played well, just missed too many serves again," said Staabs. "We should have won game three. We were winning the whole time and then gave it away. We missed 11 serves and had 10 reception errors, we beat ourselves."
The Muskies will look to build on the momentum from their first win as they travel to Mequon, Wis. on Tuesday, Sept. 13 to begin NAC play against Concordia, Wis. at 7 p.m.
