The Lakeland College women's volleyball team went 1-1 on the first day of the UW-Oshkosh Invitational on Friday night.
The Muskies (2-9) dropped their opening match against Elmhurst College, 3-0 (18-25, 22-25, 15-25), but were able to get their second win of the season against Martin Luther College, 3-2 (22-25, 25-16, 25-16, 20-25, 19-17).
"We played together as a team and were able to pull one out," said head coach Jon Staabs. "We finally were able to win a close match. We were more consistent and we took a step in the right direction."
In the win, the Muskies had several players step up, led by sophomore setter Brittany Reindl (Kenosha, Wis.) who had 45 assists and three aces.

Meanwhile, the front line played well with senior Allison Davis (Sheboygan, Wis.) leading the way with 15 kills and five blocks, including five kills in game five to get the win. Sophomores Amanda Dillman (Sheboygan, Wis.) and Katie Freitag (Kiel, Wis.) chipped in with 13 kills and 11 kills respectively. Dillman added three blocks while Freitag had 11 digs.
The Muskies continue play in the UW-Oshkosh Invitational tomorrow at noon against Wisconsin Lutheran College followed by a 2 p.m. contest against Carroll University.
