This Week in Men's Soccer

Athletics - posted on 10/24/2011

The Lakeland College men's soccer team has an important week as they vie for a spot in the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament.

The Muskies hit the road tomorrow as they travel to Marian University in a must-win-to-advance game. Lakeland is currently tied for the sixth with Benedictine University in the NAC. The top six teams qualify for the tournament.

In order for Lakeland to make the tournament, Rockford College would have to hand Benedictine a loss or tie tomorrow and/or Maranatha Baptist Bible College would have to beat Edgewood College tomorrow.

Lakeland is coming off an impressive 2-1 record in last week's play, including a 2-1 victory yesterday over the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Senior Adam Benson converted on a penalty kick in the 85th minute to lift the team past the Titans, a 2010 NCAA Division III National semi-finalist. On Oct. 22, the Muskies recorded a 6-2 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran College. Senior Ben Koepsell led the team with a hat trick, while senior Jeremy Hardy chipped in with two goals.
