After going 3-0 in the final week of the season, the Lakeland College volleyball team has earned the seventh seed in the Northern Athletics Conference tournament.
The Muskies (9-18, 6-6 NAC) will travel to Lisle, Ill. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, to face Benedictine
University at 7 p.m.
In 12 conference games this season, Lakeland has been led by its two middle hitters, senior Allison Davis (Sheboygan, Wis.) and sophomore Amanda Dillman (Sheboygan, Wis.). Dillman led the team with 132 kills and a .275 hitting percentage, while posting 20 service aces and 30 blocks. Davis was solid as well will 116 kills and a .250 hitting percentage and also tallying 30 blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Katie Freitag (Kiel, Wis.) led the team with 21 service aces and was second on the team with 27 blocks.
Sophomore libero Tess Myklebust (Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) posted 128 digs, 2.91 per game, and has given the team a solid defensive threat. Meanwhile, sophomore setter Brittany Reindel (Kenosha, Wis.) had a solid conference season, recording 322 assists, 8.47 per game, and adding 22 kills to give the team another threat to score.
Lakeland hosted Benedictine on Saturday, Oct. 1, and suffered a three set (19-25, 20-25, 20-25) loss. The Muskies just couldn't get into an offensive rhythm and struggled to stop the Eagles attack. Sophomore Anna Faust (Cross Plains, Wis.) led the team with 10 kills and eight digs. Lakeland couldn't contain Benedictine's Candice Cuppini, who tallied 13 kills to lead the Eagles.
The Muskies look to carry their positive momentum into the NAC tournament in hopes of a run at the tournament title.
