The Lakeland College men's volleyball team suffered its second consecutive Wisconsin Volleyball Conference loss, falling 3-0 (19-25, 23-25, 43-45) to the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse.
The Muskies (4-8, 2-4 WVC) played well, but are still learning how to finish a match.
The Muskies were led offensively by freshman outside hitter Alec Redlich (Wauwatosa, Wis.) who finished with 18 kills, while senior middle hitter Beau Bradshaw (Oak Lawn, Ill.) added six kills and four blocks. Freshman setter Dayton Erickson (Trevor, Wis.) continued to shine, collecting 39 assists.
Defensively, senior libero Andrew Cheever (Greenfield, Wis.) led Lakeland with 15 digs.
"We showed life a little too late at the end of set number three," said Lakeland head coach Joe Julkowski. "The guys aren't having fun because they define success by their wins in losses. Their success today came in the form of a late side-out game that allowed them numerous chances to finish the set. We played average and UW-Lacrosse played great. Our average game isn't good enough to beat any team in our conference, so the guys need to step it up to earn some victories."
Lakeland returns to the court on Saturday, Feb. 18, as the Muskies travel to Champaign, Ill., to take part in the Hoosier-Illini Classic. Times and opponents are to be determined.
