The Lakeland football team is getting some national recognition this summer with a mention in Street & Smith's 2005 College Football preseason magazine.
Street & Smith's, for decades one of the nation's most popular preseason sports magazines in all major college and professional sports, devotes four of its 196 pages to a national Division III preview, including a preseason top 25.
Lakeland is among the teams mentioned in the Best of the Rest section. The magazine says, "Lakeland College could surprise many, with 20 of 22 starters back from a 7-3 squad, including the entire backfield and offensive line from a unit that rushed for 318 years per game."
The magazine is available on newsstands now.
