The Lakeland offense came through on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at Mount Mary College as the Muskies walked away with a 6-0 victory. Senior forward Ann Lehecka led the Muskies attack with a three goal performance.
"It was nice to get a win," said head coach Marc Colwell. "It was great to get a chance to look at different people in different positions. I thought the girls responded very well."
The Muskies offense, which has struggled as of late, wasted no time getting started when ten minutes into the game Lehecka scored her first of three goals for the Muskies. When she took a crossing pass from sophomore Marie Reynolds and buried it in the back of the net.
Just seven minutes later Lehecka headed the ball into the back of the net off of a cross from freshman Maggie Short.
In the 31st minute Short added a goal of her own. The midfielder carried the ball up the right side of the field and shot it into the back right corner of the net.
With just a minute remaining before half-time senior Nikki Willes put a ball into the back of the net with help from freshman Anna Carlson.
Just 30 seconds later the Muskies added a fifth goal before the half when Willes took a shot with her left foot.
Fourteen minutes into the second half Lehecka would complete the hat trick when she knocked a ball in off a rebound.
The Muskies out-shot Mount Mary College 20-3 on the evening.
Lakeland offense looks to continue their momentum when they open conference play against Maranatha Baptist Bible College on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 1p.m.
