Senior Day A Success For Women's Soccer
Athletics - posted on 10/22/2005
The Lakeland College Muskies closed out the Lake Michigan Conference regular season with a 2-0 victory over MSOE on Senior Day at Muskie Fields. With the win the Muskies secured second place and home field advantage through at least the first two rounds of the LMC tournament.
The Muskies scored 35 minutes into the game when forward Ann Lehecka headed the ball into the back of the net off of senior Briana Plautz's corner kick.
The Muskies would have several more opportunities in the first half that they just could put away as they had 11 shots on the cold rainy afternoon.
Going into the second half with a 1-0 lead the Muskies scored again just 1 minute and 19 seconds in the half when senior Nicki Willes chested the ball into the net. Freshman Amy Christenson crossed the ball, which hit off of Willes chest and into the open net.
The Muskies are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 25 when they travel to Ripon. After they play Ripon they will host the first round of the LMC tournament on Saturday, Oct. 29 against an opponent yet to be determined.
