Former Lakeland College men's volleyball head coach Chad Schreiber and Matt Martin, a 2008 Lakeland graduate and men's volleyball standout from 2004-08, will be inducted into the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2012 at the WVC tournament at UW-Oshkosh in Oshkosh, Wis., March 30-31.

"I am so excited for Matt and Chad to be inducted into the hall of fame," said Lakeland head coach Joe Julkowski. "These two individuals are major reasons for the person I am today."

Martin becomes the third player in Lakeland history to be inducted into the WVC Hall of Fame, while Schreiber will become the first head coach in Lakeland history to be inducted. Former two-time National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association All-American Chris Gornik (2005) was inducted in 2009, and two-time NIRSA Libero of the Year Rocky Koenig (2005) was inducted in 2008.

Schreiber is the founder of the Lakeland College club volleyball program which began in 1996. Schreiber finished with a 489-190-10 (.710) career record, including a 141-60 mark in WVC play. He led the Muskies to four WVC championships, with numerous second-place finishes. He also coached Lakeland to four national title appearances, including a national championship in 2008.

"Chad was my coach, my mentor and my friend. He has been like a second father to me," said Julkowski. "He has been there for me through personal struggles and the physical and mental blocks on the court. He echoed the lessons I heard from my parents and shaped my life more than he will ever realize. I can't imagine what my life would be like without his guidance and support during my career at Lakeland."

The Muskies played for the national title in three out of five seasons at one stretch and were ranked in the nation's top 25 for 11 consecutive seasons.

During his tenure, Schreiber coached five WVC most valuable players, two libero of the year winners, 40 first team All-Conference winners, including winning the honor himself in 1997. He also coached 26 National Collegiate Volleyball Federation All-Americans, including the National Championship MVP in 2008.

Martin is one of the best volleyball players to ever don the Muskie uniform. He was a part of the 2008 National Championship team and he garnered the national MVP award. Martin was also named WVC and Lakeland College MVP that same season. In 2006 and 2007, Martin was awarded NCVF All-American honors, as well as WVC and Midwest-10 All-Conference, along with being Lakeland's MVP.

Martin also holds numerous individual records, including second in career kills (1,730), third in career digs (954) and fifth in career aces (94). He also holds the second- and third-most kills in a single season, recording 464 in 2007 and 460 in 2006. He is fifth in digs in a single season, collecting 302 in 2007. He is tied for the most kills in a match with 23 against Marquette in 2007. He also has the second-best hitting percentage in a single match, .800 against Cincinnati in 2004.

"Matt took on a big brother role during my time at Lakeland and is now one of my best friends," said Julkowski. "I always looked up to him for his dedication and determination as an athlete as well as how he defined his successes not by the wins and losses, but by the hard work spent in the gym learning and developing all of his skills. It is fun to tease Matt nowadays for breaking all of his records, but I owe much of my success to his guidance as my teammate and friend."
