- ABOUT LAKELAND

This week the Lakeland College baseball team faces its toughest test of the season as it prepares to face Northern Athletics Conference foes Aurora University and Concordia University Chicago.
The Muskies (11-6, 2-2 NAC) begin the week with a home doubleheader against NAC leading Aurora University on Saturday, April 7. Lakeland then travels to River Forest, Ill., to face Concordia Chicago on Monday, April 9.
The Muskies went 2-2 last week against NAC opponents Maranatha Baptist and Marian University. Lakeland gained some confidence in a sweep over Maranatha on Saturday, outscoring the Crusaders 22-2 in the two games, both seven inning run-rules. It was a different story on Sunday as the Lakeland bats were silenced in game one and the bullpen couldn't hold the lead in game two, falling 7-1 and 11-7.
Mike Ruzek again led Lakeland at the plate, hitting .375 (6-for-16) with one double, his first career home run, six runs scored and four RBIs. Garrett Morris also had a solid week, batting .364 (4-for-11) with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Derek Loomans shined on the mound for Lakeland, throwing a seven-hit shutout against Maranatha, with four strikeouts.
