- ABOUT LAKELAND

This week, the Lakeland College baseball team plays host to a pair of games before visiting rival Concordia University Wisconsin.
The Muskies (12-9, 3-5 NAC) begin the week with a home doubleheader against nonconference foe Ripon College on April 11. Lakeland returns to Northern Athletics Conference play as they host Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday, April 14, before traveling to Mequon, Wis., to face rival Concordia Wisconsin on Sunday, April 15.
The Muskies went 1-3 last week against their toughest competition all season in Aurora University and Concordia University Chicago. Lakeland had a disappointing showing against Aurora, as the Muskies were outscored 27-3 in the two-game sweep. It was a different story on Sunday as Lakeland earned a split with the Cougars, winning game one 10-2 behind a dominant Mike Ruzek, before falling 18-3 in game two.
Ruzek did it all for the Muskies this week, leading the team in hitting, going 5-for-12 (.417) with two doubles, one home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. He was also dominant on the mound, throwing a complete game against Concordia Chicago, allowing two runs, one earned, on eight hits. He also recorded three strikeouts and held the Cougars to a .229 average.
